Format and Rules

These rules govern the structure of competition and the play of matches within the Hero Realms Highlander Series. Any rule questions or clarifications will be directed to the League Organizer.

Join the #Highlander-Series channel of the Realms Rising Discord to for updates and announcements! This is required of all participants.

1. Series Format

1.1 – Each season of the Highlander Series will include four open events and one invitational event.

1.2 – Each event will have matches played at a specific level.

1.3 – The top point earner throughout the season will be crowned the Highlander Season Champion!


2. Tournament Structure

2.1 – Participants will be required to have at least 3 characters of different classes that meet the level requirement for the event. For example, in the level 3 event all characters must be level 3 or higher.

2.2 – Each event will be a single elimination bracket.

2.3 – All announcements and updates will be posted to the #highlander-series channel on discord, you will need to join the server so you will see these.

2.4 – Each event will be run through the Challonge website.

 


3. Match Structure

3.1 – Opponents will play games until one player achieves 3 wins (Best of 5 match).

3.2 – For each match, the higher ranking player (the one with the lower seed number) will send the first challenge, and the winner of each game will send the next challenge, until one player wins 3 games. Rankings are based on points earned in the current and previous season.

3.3 – Players must send Level Specific Challenges at the level set for each event. Challenges cannot be accepted at a lower level (eg. a Level 6 challenge cannot be accepted with a Level 5 character).

3.4 – Once you WIN a game using a character class, you cannot play with that class again in the same round.

4. Season Invitational

4.1 – A Season Invitational will include the top 16 finishers from the seasonal events.

4.2 – A top 4 finish will guarantee a spot in this event, and any remaining spots will be determined by points earned throughout the season. For each event players earn 100 points for participation and 150 points for each match win.

4.3 – The Season Invitational will require at least 4 characters (of different classes) at the level cap.

4.4 – Matches will be to 4 wins (Best of 7).

4.5 – The winner of the invitational will be crowned the Highlander Invitational Champion. This may be a different player than the one crowned the Highlander Season Champion.
