Lost in thought, Abacus watched as his younger companion struggled to move a stack of heavy wooden crates closer to the secret door, inside a tunnel network underneath the Tipsy Turtle Inn. Arwen exclaimed, “A little help please!”, to get some desperately needed assistance. With the two men working together, they sorted and stacked the heavy cargo, just in time for the pending pickup. Breathing heavily, Arwen picked up the conversation, “With the inaugural season of Tavern Brawls almost complete, we can take the profits from the gambling enterprise and reinvest the profits into our regular business,” he said as he clapped his hand against the heavy stack of crates.

Abacus was also winded, though he had done little to help with the grunt work of preparing today’s shipment for The Smugglers. Leaning forward, always seeking the last word, he amended his comrade’s declaration, “If it wasn’t for the Commissar, I would rather reinvest in members of a new team. What we put into The Hand, we have gotten back tenfold – even after delivering her share. But I don’t think she will take too kindly to the little surprise we arranged for her next week. We will have to find another benefactor. Soon. Or we might have to disappear for a while.”

Week 5 of the regular season concluded and despite the skilled play of all the Wizards of this league (Magnara, Charon, Wiz the Great, Atriok, Jinx and Atriok), only a single Ranger managed to complete all regular season games without losing a single set. With a 10-1 individual record, The Hand’s Artemis the Ranger is the VB (Veteran Brawler) for the most consistent play over the regular season.

And in the hunt for the Finals, Drink, Smash, and Repeat was able to secure the second slot to battle The Hand, thanks to a solid performance this week in defeating The Jawbreakers in a powerful 4-1 set.
